The monographic section of this number, Translation, Traditions, faces a number of issues, an inevitable consequence of the etymological connexion of the Latin tradere (to give) which both ‘translation’ and ‘tradition’ imply. In fact, such diverse modalities of transmission located in the spatiotemporal dimension of their reciprocal interferential processes, affecting the system as a whole, should naturally be seen as interrelated.
